Are you using Microsoft Security Essentials?

Microsoft Security Essentials provides real-time protection for your home PC that guards against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a free* download from Microsoft that is simple to install, easy to use, and always kept up to date so you can be assured your PC is protected by the latest technology. It’s easy to tell if your PC is secure — when you’re green, you’re good. It’s that simple.

Microsoft Security Essentials runs quietly and efficiently in the background so that you are free to use your Windows-based PC the way you want—without interruptions or long computer wait times.”

I wonder how this offering from Microsoft will impact paid anti-virus software vendors? I know I’ll be installing this on all of my personal computers this evening.

Thank you for maintaining such a useful portal. this website is not only knowledgeable but also very creative too. There normally are very few people who can create technical articles that creatively. All of us search for information regarding something like this. We ourselves went over many websites to come across knowledge about this.I will keep coming back !!

I recently came across Microsoft Security Essentials. And yes I did try it out. Well honestly I was not quite amused but it had some interesting features. But I also noticed some issues as I was also running Bit Defender. Did anyone else have such problems? Thanks for the article. Cheers

Not sure about this, you only find out the shortcomings weeks or months later. So I stick with what I know and Bitdefender has proven my favourite up to now.

Interesting indeed. Well honestly I am not using MS Security Essentials yet. Personally I’m not a big techie. But isn’t an anti virus sufficient to protect my self from harm?

I don’t think this is going to replace the commercial scanners any time soon. But Microsoft does have a history of getting their act together and taking over a market segment.

I’m seeing more and more providers and users saying they’re using Microsoft Security Essentials. So far, it has worked well for me.
